We are carrying out research on several topics in atomic, molecular, and optical physics. In one experiment we use diode lasers to slow and cool (to microkelvin temperatures) rubidium atoms. We are also using atomic beams to study condensed matter surfaces. Most recently, we have begun to use lasers to do molecular spectroscopy with the goal of addressing fundamental physics questions.
